Ahadadream Announces Fundraiser for Grassroots Venue AAJA with SOS
Ahadadream has partnered with SOS to announce a surprise party at South East London venue and community hub, AAJA on Thursday 13th February 2025.
Tickets are expected to go quick, get yours here. Fresh off the back of releasing latest single, ‘Big Boy Tracks’ — a boisterous club link-up with UK funky pioneer, Champion, and hotshot grime MC, Logan — Ahad wanted to give back to the dance floors and the sounds that helped shape his own early clubbing experiences in London.
A one-time DIY promoter in the mid 2010s, Ahad experienced the difficulties independent venues and promoters face in the capital first hand, despite them playing a crucial role in the incubation of emerging underground sounds, scenes and communities — now an unfortunate trend permeating club culture across the UK.
Identifying AAJA — currently under threat of closure amid pressure from developers and spiraling rental costs — as a venue he felt compelled to support, Ahadadream will be joined at the venue by Champion, Logan and a host of special guest MCs this coming Thursday 13th February, with all proceeds being donated to the team at AAJA. To warm up, Ahadadream will also be playing a special one-hour set on AAJA Radio from 6.30pm — tune in HERE.
“London is the birthplace of some of the most influential scenes, sounds, genres and communities in club music”, says Ahadadream. “People from all over the world look to London nightlife for inspiration. Transformative moments on the dance floor spark creativity, inspiring others to build something fresh and unique, keeping the culture alive.
“I’ve been blessed enough to experience so many of those moments growing up in London, both as a raver and promoter. But sadly, most of the spaces where I had those experiences have shut down. If we lose our nightlife spaces, we lose a huge part of what makes the UK culturally relevant.
“That’s why I’m proud to be partnering with Save Our Scene to support AAJA and help shine a light on this crisis.”
"We're incredibly thankful to Ahadadream & Save Our Scene for reaching out to help raise some funds to keep our community driven project alive, as well as raise awareness about the precarious future many grassroots music venues and projects alike are facing.”, say the team at AAJA.
“AAJA is a grassroots radio station and event space based in Deptford, South East London which has now been running for over seven years. Initially we set out to create a small space to bring people together through music and have seen that space grow into a community that could fill your hearts. We have been moved on by developers and rising rental costs in London, and after many years have finally found our forever home in a basement just off Deptford High Street, yet our future is now uncertain. Like many music venues across the country, AAJA is at risk of closure and to have people out there offering a hand of support like Ahadadream, Save Our Scene and the Music Venue Trust gives us a bit of hope. Activists and artists like this are using their voice to fill the void that the government and policy are yet to realise.”
